I've been in the business since 1975 and have been riding the real estate market roller coaster for a long time. I've seen the big ups (2004 and 2005 were the biggest) and big downs (1981 interest rates hit 18.5%). We've been a decline for about 20 months now and the end is not yet in sight. Mr Bernacke has been too slow to try to make any repairs and now many other businesses are being severly hurt. Does any one else remember, sometime in mid 2006 Mr. Bernacke stating that the housing market was "just one small segment" of the overall economy, and he wasn't that concerned about it. It now seems that home ownership and housing is the "Heart" of America as stated last week by another government official. I've always believed that the fact that Americans, the people, not the government or just the ultra rich, own the USA.

I now hope that our government and the greedy banks step up and do something to "stop the bleeding" of so many millions of people being hurt and forced out of their homes. I'd sure like a bonus like these bank CEO's get for one year.  It's time for our government in Washington to stop peering across the ocean at what "they are doing" and start looking across our country to see what's happening RIGHT HERE!!
