An Open Letter to Fellow Owners
Is it possible that there is ONE single secret that will not only carry us through these challenging market times...but catapult us to one of the top real estate companies in North America?
There is. But before we go there, I want to share a Quick Story...
Ya know, it sometimes seems like only yesterday that I was some punk kid with big ideas, adding grey to my hair to look a little older so the business world would take me seriously. For those of you who have met me...I certainly do not have that problem now. The purpose of this letter is not to share how graceful I'm aging (haha) but to share that in the humble start to my career, I've had the opportunity to meet and work with some extraordinary people and been exposed to some extraordinary thinking.
And here we are today, all sharing in these extraordinary times. And with these times...comes extraordinary opportunity. The question before us is whether or not we're prepared to come together and take advantage of this opportunity...or if we'll remain isolated in our own "success bubble"...or worse, move on to the next "wave".
So, getting back to that audacious statement of "the ONE single secret that can catapult us to becoming one of the top real estate companies in North America".
Is it some top-secret internet marketing machine...no. It's not a new slogan or advertising campaign (although some of these things may be in the works). ...It's better. And the brilliance is in its simplicity. As a matter of fact it can be broken down to one word...
Action. And in the current state of the market...we need Extraordinary Action. Action with direction. Action with a purpose.
Our company and industry may very well be reaching a tipping point...a level which the momentum of change cannot be stopped. On one side, you have Mary, Lyle, Ryan and Barry pushing with all their might...and on the other side you have market forces, doubt, fear and in-action - that's a big load...but not too big if we all join together to help push.
Ladies and Gentlemen, despite our challenges, we have the Model. We have the Leaders. We have the people. Now it's up to us to deliver some organized energy.
The way I see it we have a 2-year window. A window that while the rest of our industry is focused on mere survival...we're taking it a step further and building the tools we need so that when the market does return (and it will) - we will quite literally leapfrog our competitors.
One example of this is A2Stalk.com. Imagine if we had 500 offices posting a weekly article there. After 2 years we'd have 50,000 articles. That's a lot of information. Search engines like information. Do you think that will help our search engine rankings and thus give us more leads? Absolutely. This alone isn't going to get us there, but it's a tool and a good example of the power of working together in the same direction.
There are some smart people within the A2S organization, I've had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with many of you. And this letter is a call out to each of you, to get us to start thinking different...followed by some unity in our actions. Let us not become a company of Human Lobsters!
In my humble opinion, I think it's time to harness and direct our knowledge and our energy in one direction, behind one purpose.
